Pane di Zucca (Bread with pumpkin)


Bakery products, packaged as loaves or buns real from the characteristic yellow color of the "crumbs".
Ingredients: Bread made with white flour, lard, butter, sugar, baking powder, pumpkin, salt.
Preparation: Prepare the night before, a normal mixture with flour and yeast. Let rise, the next morning, add to pasta made from white flour, lard, butter, sugar, a few drops of lemon juice and cooked pumpkin and let it cool to make a dough too hard. Dissolve the yeast in a little water and add it last to the mixture. The dough can be done mechanically using special mixers, both for domestic and industrial use.
The pumpkin bread is sold in bakeries, pasta shops and supermarkets.
History: This bread, which was once well known in Piacenza, is still in some bakeries in the winter.
Area of production : City of Monticelli d'Ongina and the entire province of Piacenza.
